I wrote the following email today to my colleagues at work:
I am planning on having the lady who made my down coat last year come to my place one evening soon. She’ll bring along her extensive range of fabric samples and accruements like fur and buttons for you to peruse. If you would like to come along and perhaps have a down coat made to measure, please let me know by the end of school tomorrow.
If you want to have a look at her work, I will bring my coat in tomorrow.
For those of you new to Beijing, let me assure that that the down coat is not overkill – I wore mine EVERY blessed day of the eternal winter; got dang sick of the thing actually!
Mine cost 1400RMB from memory, but then I did choose the most expensive fabric and the most expensive fur – have an amazing habit of doing that!
Anyway, if you are interested in even just having a look at what options she has to offer, let me know, we’ll have a party as we get rugged up because, as they say in Game of Thrones, winter is coming.
END OF EMAIL
End of day – 34 people wanting to come to the ‘party’. I guess is was the “winter is coming” warning that made all the difference!
