I have decided to keep this blog of my time in the Middle Kingdom for two reasons, one, everybody always tells me should I should record my stories and because it is a very efficient ( read lazy ) way of keeping people up-to-date with where I am and what I’m doing.

I have no idea what to expect except that I am going to have a marvelous time, to be beguiled, to be enchanted and frustrated and alive.

So, I hope I can do China justice and encourage you to come and visit….

    Hi there,
    I came across your blog when I was trying to find a Janome dealer in Beijing. I was wondering if you bought your Janome machine in Beijing and if so, where in Beijing?

      Hi, I didn’t buy in China, I had someone bring one from home when they came to visit. It is not impossible to find dealers but they tend to be very, very expensive and the Toyota brand seems to be more stocked than anything else. The Slow Life Patchwork store has some machines in stock, but a very limited range. Their address is:
